Day 75 - No Excuses!

We have all heard this "I wish I had time to workout, how do you find the time to workout, I don't have time to cook", I need to lose weight etc, etc, etc. Honestly, I don't usually respond to comments like this because my comment is not what they will want to hear. I hear excuses after excuses. Some of the excuses I've heard from friends and acquaintances include..."Michigan made me fat" apparently since she moved to Michigan she gained weight, therefore, Michigan made her fat? A co-worker told me that her company made her gain weight because there is always food in the lunch room?
Sadly, people are in denial and then they expect a magic pill to instantly give them the body they want.
I think one of the greatest feelings is to accomplish a goal and just being able to say "I did it". Whatever the goal may be. There is a sense of accomplishment that engulfs your entire body, and for me it's a natural high and sometimes relief to know that you did it, and may not have to ever do it again. Sometimes it's to set another bigger goal because you have finally come to the realization that you can attain a bigger goal and the smaller goal was just a stepping stone. No matter what you want, just remember that you can do it and that Needing something and wanting something are really different!

Hi Bernee!

Yes, Tony said that to me also, about needing something and wanting something. Excuses are so easy to make. In our heads they seem SO legit. But, if you want it bad enough there are NO excuses!

It is two weeks after the Men's US Open (golf) and again, Tiger Woods won. No surprise there but what was interesting is that he entered the event knowing he had stress fractures in his leg, and a surgically repaired knee that was still on the mend. Against his doctor’s advice, he played anyway. In the press interviews before the event, he made no mention of the fractures, and stated that the knee was ready to go! He also forbade “Team Tiger” from mentioning anything about his physical condition (they knew about the tibia fractures). How many times have we given ourselves a way out? You know - a reason why we may not be at our best and therefore a ready-made excuse when we fall short of our goals. I know I have more times than I would like to admit. Tiger could have mentioned the problems with his leg to give himself an easy way to explain a loss… but he didn’t. I’ll think about that the next time I want to create excuses...

Moving to Michigan made me fat...LOL!!! No really it did :) Kidding, being miserable with my move to Michigan caused me to make horrible choices and thus I got fat...but now that I'm skinny I am so blaming it on Michigan :)

Anyhow, I've had those same thoughts Craig that you had about Tiger Woods...I was in the gym watching all of the coverage after the event and how the media is so ready to write Tiger off...lot's of he'll never play again...ohhhh, if the world only knew the power of the human spirit...if it only knew!!
